Tires and Wheels

The K5 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the A5; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the A5 don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

Suspension and Handling

The K5 GT handles at .85 G’s, while the A5 pulls only .84 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the K5’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the A5’s (36 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

Chassis

The Kia K5 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 850 pounds less than the Audi A5.

The design of the Kia K5 amounts to more than styling. The K5 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .27 Cd. That is significantly lower than the A5 (.31) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the K5 get better fuel mileage.

Passenger Space

The K5 has .2 inches more front headroom, 4.8 inches more front legroom, .7 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the A5.

Model Availability

The K5 is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The A5 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
